Reorder the Windows Start Menu Page

Re-Order the Menu
It's reasonably easy to reorder the items on any Win98 cascading
menu. Hold down the mouse button and drag a highlighted file or
folder up or down the list.
It's even easier to force the entire list into permanent alphabetical
order. Open the Registry Editor and drill down to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\MenuOrder\Start Menu\&Programs\Menu.
In the right pane, delete the entry for "order." Your start menu
will be perfectly alphabetized upon rebooting.
Note: If you're not comfortable with running Registry
Editor, please don't
practice here! This is an advanced tip and only for those who know how
to navigate safely around the registry. Dire consequences can result from
seemingly minor mistakes. Always back up the registry before tweaks.
