Mnemosyne was the Greek goddess of memory,  Her namesake, mnemonics,
simply means "memory aid".

Mnemonic:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

A mnemonic (SAMPA /n@manIc/ in US or /ni:mQnIc/ in UK) is a memory aid. Mnemonics are often verbal, sometimes in verse form, and are often used to remember lists. Mnemonics rely on not only repetition to remember facts, but also on creating associations between easy-to-remember constructs and lists of data. The word "mnemonic" echoes the figure Mnemosyne who personified "Memory" in Greek mythology.

As a kid, I used a few mnemonics to remember crucial information for school tests; ROY G. BIV for, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, for the colors of the rainbow. What I didn't know was that there are probably thousands of mnemonics for remembering all kinds of data. These could have been wonderfully helpful, if I had only know they existed!

In a effort to correct my lost ways, I'm searching for all mnemonics to be assembled in a coherent database that everyone can use for their own education.

Please email me your own mnemonics, with details, and I'll include them here with proper credit from their source. Thank you!!  drdscovery@aol.com
